How to play a DVD

This guide shows “How to play a DVD”. It assumes you have knowledge of DVD players in general

Turn on Booth Power

1 Go to the right hand side of the stage

2 Push down the switch marked "Booth Power"

3 Switch on power above the booth

Turn on Sound System

4 Open booth lid and secure against wall and open door

5 Switch on amplifier

6 Switch on mixer
(ensure all slide controls are at 0)

Lower Screen (Note: Once the screen is going down you must hit the "stop" button to stop it)




7 Turn on Screen power & open curtains using drawstring (open is front)

8 You can lower the screen using the remote pointing at the control box above curtain
(need to press STOP)

9 Alternatively you can use the buttons on right hand side of control box above the curtain (stage right)

Turn on Projector




10 Turn on switch labelled "Projector Power " (on right hand side of Hall towards stage)

11 The light on the projector will shine "red"

12 Point the remote at the projector and press "Power". The light will turn blue (flash then solid)

Play DVD




13 Turn on DVD player "on"

14 Turn on the HDMI switch

(on front towards the DVD player

15 Point the HDMI Remote at red box to select channel 1 by pressing the "1" button or pressing "M" until 1 selected.




16 Control volume using slides "Channel 7" and "Master" and/or from your laptop controls

17 Use the DVD remote to put DVD in player using "Open/Close" and to play the DVD


At the end of your session carry out the following as applicable, depending on what you have used:

  • Set all mixer slides to zero (Picture 16)
  • Switch off specific equipment used:  CD/DVD Player (Picture 13)  and  HDMI switch (Picture  14);
  • Switch off: mixer (Picture 6) amplifier (Picture 5)
  • Switch off projector using remote (Picture 12)
  • Switch off Projector power at wall (once projector cooling fan has stopped) (Picture 10)
  • Raise screen (Picture 8/9) and turn off screen power and close curtains (Picture 7)
  • Return remotes to their containers (for DVD, projector, screen, HDMI switch)
  • Close Booth lid and door (Picture 14). Turn off Booth Power above booth (Picture 13) and on stage (Picture 12).
